Saint Andrew Catholic School was founded in 1989 by the
Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters and is grounded in the gospel
vision of truth and justice. The Dominican tradition of
academic excellence is the foundation for the philosophy of
education at Saint Andrew. Fr. Timothy Murphy was the
founding pastor and recognized the need for a Catholic
elementary school where children could receive instruction
in the Catholic faith. In 1989, the school opened serving
Grades K through 3, and each subsequent year a new grade
level was added. Saint Andrew primarily serves Cape Coral,
one of the fastest growing cities in Florida. Most students
attending come from Saint Andrew or Saint Katharine Drexel
Parishes, both located in Cape Coral. A small percentage of
students come from a variety of parishes in Fort Myers,
Florida. Saint Andrew Catholic School is the newest
elementary school in the Diocese of Venice. The Florida
Catholic Conference accredits it. Enrollment has ranged from
380 to 520 students.
The Saint Andrew faculty is comprised
of enthusiastic teachers and support staff who work to inspire and develop the
whole child, academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. Our mission of
“building in faith, hearts, and minds” is ever present. Outside the classroom,
this is accomplished through various clubs and activities such as Future
Educators of America, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society,
Audio/Visual Club, Drama, Odyssey of the Mind, Performing Chorus, Band, Math
Team, Safety Patrol, a complete Sports Program, Rainbows for All God’s Children,
and the unique Environmental Preservation Club. Keeping true to the school’s
Dominican heritage, a relationship continues with Sister Karinne O’Malley, one
of the founding Sisters, who is currently the Director of the Title I
After-School Migrant Tutoring Program in Immokalee, Florida. The Saint Andrew
community through their donation of time, talent, and treasure enthusiastically
supports her mission of working with Florida’s migrant families.
