Dear Friends,

We appreciate your interest in our school.  We invite you to call the school office to make an appointment for a tour.

St. Andrew Catholic School was established in 1989 by the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters and has been fully accredited since 1995. Currently over 300 students are enrolled. We have two PreK-4 classes of up to 18 children each, two Kindergartens with up to 20 in each class and two classes each of Grades 1 through 8, with 20-24 students in each class. Our teachers are degreed (many with Master’s degree), certified in the state of Florida, and take additional Religion courses to be certified by the Diocese. Complementing our classroom teachers, teachers or specialists work in the following areas: Guidance, Spanish, Art, Music,  Physical Education, Computer, Media Center, TV Production, and the STARS (Student Support) program. Both employed and volunteer aides assist the teachers and students throughout the building.

In addition to the classes provided by the teachers listed above, we also provide the following programs: Before and After School Care, Lunch Program, Accelerated Reader, middle school sports,  the Gr. 5 D.A.R.E. Program, Drama Club, Chorus, Band, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, FEA, Environmental Club,  student-run broadcasts from our in-house TV studio, and a standardized testing program in Grades 2-8. Our school consistently ranks in the top 10-20% nationally on standardized tests.

The Dominican charisms of truth-seeking and personal relationships remain the foundation for the philosophy of education at our school. Within a caring, Christian atmosphere we present a challenging and developmentally appropriate academic program. Students are taught basic and advanced skills, to think critically as well as creatively, to apply their knowledge, are motivated to learn more about the world around them and challenged to live the Gospel.  An active Home and School Association helps to create a  good system of communication enabling staff, students and parents to become effective partners in education.

Our school is financially supported by the parish, tuition and fees, interest income from the Endowment Fund, donations and  fundraisers. In the spirit of community building, parents are required to donate a minimum of 30 service hours and help with fundraisers, especially the annual festival and the sale of raffle tickets. Part of the total cost of education for active parishioners can be requested from their parish. There is an application process for additional tuition aid for families in need of this assistance.

As openings occur, families with applications on file are contacted for an interview with the principal. The child’s specific needs as well as current report card grades and standardized test results are discussed. When it is determined that St. Andrew School can provide a program for your child, the financial agreement form is completed and the non-refundable registration fee is paid.

Our school mission is: "Building in faith, building in hearts, and building in minds." St. Andrew Catholic School is dedicated to  discovering and fostering each student's unique talents and abilities.
