I-Care Cat will soon begin visiting the classrooms on a monthly basis.  He will talk with the students about caring for others, animals and nature as well being a peacemaker.  

This year we will be working from a workbook called I Can Choose.  The workbook explains that students have control over what they say and do in order to help themselves and others feel good.  

This year the theme of the guidance lessons for third, fourth and fifth grade is Bullying.  The curriculum discusses the different types of bullying; identifies the bully, target and witnesses; and shares ways to stop bullying.  The curriculum comes from a three-day Bullying Prevention Workshop presented by SuEllen Fried.  SuEllen has also published a book entitled Bullies and Victims which explains the material in detail.  This book is available in the Guidance office for parents to check-out.

To expand on the ways to stop bullying, students will be watching a series of BeCool videos. The videos explain that there are three ways to respond to bullying: with a hot, cold or cool reaction.
